Aalto University Demonstrates World’s First Superconducting Quantum Heat Engine in Superconducting Circuits

Researchers at Aalto University have realized the world’s first experimental cyclic quantum heat engine operating inside a superconducting circuit. The engine uses a transmon qubit coupled to a quantum-circuit refrigerator to perform a full Otto cycle at millikelvin temperatures. Positive work is generated from quantum-scale heat flows, validating the concept in practical hardware.
