Saab UK, Aquark Technologies and Royal Navy Complete World-First Quantum Timing Radar Trial

Saab UK, Aquark Technologies and the Royal Navy DCTO completed a trial showing Giraffe 1X radars can maintain a coherent air picture using independent AQlock quantum timing without GNSS. The demonstration is believed to be a world-first for a distributed high-performance military radar network operating under representative denial and spoofing conditions. Xairos, QuDef, and Qubitrium Unite for Quantum Timing Initiative

Xairos has been chosen by the Netherlands Ministry of Defence to be part of the Purple NECtar “Quantum Challenges.” The team, including QuDef and Qubitrium, will focus on quantum-secure clock synchronization for harsh communication settings. Their final demonstration is planned for November 2025 at Purple NECtar/Innovation in Defence.
