Jordan Hosts First Quantum Computing Forum as Central Bank Advances Post-Quantum Encryption Roadmap

The Jordan Today Center for Development and Asfar Consulting held the first dedicated national Jordan Quantum Computing Technology Forum on August 5, 2026, in Amman. More than 50 experts examined quantum foundations, applications, and challenges, with particular attention to financial-sector risks. The Central Bank of Jordan’s sectoral roadmap guides banks toward quantum-resistant encryption through phased risk integration, asset inventory, and pilot testing. In parallel, the University of Jordan received approval for a Master’s program in Quantum Computing, among the first dedicated programs of its kind in Jordan and the Arab region, set to begin in the 2026/2027 academic year. These steps form part of broader regional activity that includes hardware deployments in Saudi Arabia and post-quantum regulatory initiatives in the UAE.
