BlackRock, Coinbase, Strategy and Peers Launch Bitcoin Security Consortium with $15 Million Pledge
Nine leading financial institutions and Bitcoin companies have launched the Bitcoin Security Consortium. Members pledged $15 million over three years to fund open-source developers and researchers independently. The group’s initial focus is preparation for quantum computing risks to Bitcoin cryptography. Coordination is provided on a volunteer basis by Brink’s Mike Schmidt. The structure supports existing security work without directing protocol development.
