Singapore Armed Forces Partner with IBM to Explore Quantum Computing for Mission Planning and Logistics Optimisation
The Singapore Armed Forces’ Digital and Intelligence Service and Defence Science and Technology Agency have partnered with IBM to evaluate quantum computing for complex mission planning and logistics optimisation. Engineers will develop quantum optimisation approaches while gaining access to IBM quantum resources. Parallel US efforts include DARPA’s ONISQ program and Air Force contracts targeting fleet routing, maintenance scheduling, and supply-chain resilience. Both nations emphasise early skill development and hybrid approaches. Officials note that broad operational utility remains years away while foundational preparation continues.
