IBM and Lockheed Martin opened a Swiss quantum innovation hub with ETH Zurich. Switzerland’s first IBM Quantum System Two, running an IBM Quantum Nighthawk r2, is due at CSCS in Lugano by the end of 2026. LUMI AI Factory selected IQM for a superconducting stack at CSC in Kajaani: a Halocene H4 with 150 physical qubits in 2027 and a Halocene H5 in 2029 aimed at as many as 9 logical qubits.

Diraq is sliding a silicon-spin box into an Equinix hall in Sydney on less than 20 kW. Quobly and Absolut System locked a Grenoble cryo plan around QCube 100-Class 3 as Quobly talks 100,000 physical qubits from 2027 to 2029. IFSC-USP confined laser-cooled strontium ions in Brazil’s first Paul trap.

NTT and OptQC restated a fiscal 2030 optical sales goal after an August capital pact. Universal Quantum picked Singapore for a 25-person ion-trap chip shop.

Xanadu and AMD opened Backline inside PennyLane, posting sub-3-microsecond end-to-end classical loops across Versal FPGA, Instinct GPU, and Threadripper iron. Cloudflare now validates ML-DSA-44 DNSSEC on 1.1.1.1. Signatures run 2,420 bytes and often force TCP fallback. A Scripps 50-state review found active PQC plans in New Jersey, New York, Maryland, and Missouri; 32 states showed no plan. PQShield and CSO Online framed harvest-now, decrypt-later against the NIST clock: deprecate RSA-2048 and ECC P-256 by 2030, remove them by 2035.

The University of Leeds joined Manchester and Imperial on the £12.6 million EPSRC MEAD grant. WVU physicist Subhasish Mandal won an NSF CAREER award for quantum-materials tools. 

CIGI seated six emerging scholars on quantum security and governance through December. QuTech released Qbead, an open-source handheld qubit trainer.
