Unitary Quantum (Hefei Youzheng Quantum Technology Co., Ltd. / 幺正量子), China’s only company focused exclusively on the quantum charge-coupled device (QCCD) trapped-ion architecture, has closed a Series A financing of several hundred million yuan (approximately $50 million USD). The round was led by Shenzhen Capital Group, with joint participation from the National Social Security Fund Bay Area Science and Technology Innovation Equity Investment Fund (Shenzhen) and Shenzhen Innovation Capital Investment Co., Ltd. Additional investors include GF Xinde, Jingming Capital, Puhua Capital, Qifu Capital, Xingtai Capital, Fortune Capital, Huakong Fund, Shoucheng Holdings, GCL Energy Technology, Haojun Investment, Kailian Capital, Xinneng Venture Capital, and Zhongwei China. Funds will primarily support R&D toward quantum advantage and quantum error correction while strengthening full-stack capabilities from chip design and system integration to software algorithms. The financing follows a Pre-A round completed less than four months earlier.
QCCD Architecture and System Milestones
Unitary Quantum, founded in July, 2022, and incubated from the team of Academician Guo Guangcan at the University of Science and Technology of China and the Chinese Academy of Sciences Key Laboratory of Quantum Information, is pursuing the QCCD architecture recognized for high-fidelity gates and all-to-all connectivity via ion transport. The company delivered its first complete ion-trap quantum computer in 2024 and has iterated multiple chip-type systems. It independently designed and fabricated an ion-trap chip whose RF quality factor reaches world-advanced levels (reported peak Q of 1225 at 4 K).
Unitary Quantum became the first Chinese enterprise to realize cryogenic (4 K) ion trapping and transport on a chip-type trap, achieving ultra-high vacuum on the order of 10⁻¹³ Torr that extends ion lifetimes and reduces electromagnetic noise. Early in 2026 the company publicly reported passage of the Quantum Volume 32 benchmark on a system demonstrating 12-qubit full connectivity, placing overall performance—qubit number, gate fidelity, connectivity, and circuit depth—among international advanced levels.
The QCCD approach is the same architectural family advanced by Quantinuum, whose Helios system has demonstrated 98 physical qubits, two-qubit gate fidelity of 99.921 %, and commercial logical-qubit operation at roughly 2:1 physical-to-logical overhead.
Capital Support and Commercial Trajectory
The investor mix combines patient state capital from the social-security fund complex, industrial investors linked to listed companies, and leading market-oriented venture firms, signaling broad recognition of both technical progress and commercialization potential in the domestic ion-trap segment.
Unitary Quantum undertakes a major special project of Anhui Province and has expanded laboratory space by 1,500 square meters to support accelerated development. The team comprises seven professors or researchers and more than 20 doctors or postdoctoral researchers; R&D personnel exceed 70% of staff, with 80% holding master’s or doctoral degrees and an average employee age under 30.
The company has also developed ultra-low-vibration cryogenic thermostat systems that address domestic supply-chain gaps and is advancing overseas product deployment under Belt and Road science-and-technology cooperation frameworks. Proceeds will further modular, scalable QCCD hardware intended for distributed quantum computing and eventual transition from laboratory systems into broader application scenarios.
