EuroHPC JU Launches Procurement for MeluXina-Q Quantum Computer in Luxembourg

The EuroHPC JU has launched procurement for MeluXina-Q, a quantum computer to be hosted by LuxProvide in Luxembourg and integrated with the MeluXina supercomputer. The system will start with at least 10 semiconductor spin qubits and is planned to scale beyond 80 physical qubits. Acquisition is budgeted at up to €11.95 million ($13.6 million USD), co-financed equally by the EuroHPC JU and the Luxembourg Government. Once deployed, MeluXina-Q will support hybrid classical-quantum workflows for scientific, industrial, and public-sector users across Europe.

Zero Point Cryogenics Opens First US Innovation Hub at Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park

Zero Point Cryogenics is opening its first international Innovation and Service Hub at the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park in Chicago. The Canadian manufacturer of dilution refrigerators will supply cryogenic systems to the park and provide installation, maintenance, and technical support for US customers. Design and manufacturing remain based in Alberta. The expansion is supported by Illinois’ MICRO program and will create more than 20 specialized jobs. Chicago is the first of planned hubs in the United States, Europe, and Asia.

BlackRock, Coinbase, Strategy and Peers Launch Bitcoin Security Consortium with $15 Million Pledge

Nine leading financial institutions and Bitcoin companies have launched the Bitcoin Security Consortium. Members pledged $15 million over three years to fund open-source developers and researchers independently. The group’s initial focus is preparation for quantum computing risks to Bitcoin cryptography. Coordination is provided on a volunteer basis by Brink’s Mike Schmidt. IQM Quantum Computers and Deutsche Bahn have published results of a hybrid quantum-classical algorithm applied to real railway scheduling data. The approach used the Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm on a dataset of 190 trips across five German cities, generating roughly 98,500 possible cycles. Feasible schedules were produced end-to-end on existing IQM hardware, with solution quality scaling alongside larger quantum subproblems.
